A private event for ticket and badge holders of the Goodwood Road Racing Club, the Members’ Meeting—more commonly referred to by its year and abbreviation, 82MM—is a celebration of all things motorsport. Set in the historic grounds of Goodwood Circuit, the event offers an action-packed weekend of racing, intertwined with displays, stalls, and fantastic food.

Across two days, you can watch a wide selection of cars race in pro-am format, with qualifying on the Saturday and racing on the Sunday. Depending on your ticket type, you're granted nearly unrestricted access to the whole event, giving you the chance to get up close and personal with the teams as they prepare their cars for competition.

You’re free to walk the entire track and find your own favourite vantage points. Spending a bit more opens up better views, such as access to roving grandstands and, if you’re part of one of the larger clubs, exclusive dining halls and social areas.

Compared to other events on the calendar, 82MM is expensive. The cost is eye-watering, but it does change the atmosphere. It filters the crowd, attracting genuinely passionate and enthusiastic motorsport fans. The result? A much more refined and enjoyable environment. Throughout the day, you're likely to spot familiar faces, though out of respect, most people just offer a polite nod rather than asking for a photo.

Don’t go expecting to see the latest Ferraris or Lamborghinis in the paddock (though the car park might surprise you)—everything here is built for racing. This may not appeal to everyone; if you're not into sub-3.0-litre classic racing, some of the action might not be your cup of tea. That said, Goodwood offers a fantastic mix, from pre-war machinery to modern GT3 cars. Demonstrations are a highlight too, featuring everything from Cadillac Jota Le Mans cars to Gordon Murray designs and Ayrton Senna’s Lotus T97.

Overall, it’s a brilliant day out and well worth a visit. I’d recommend going as a group, packing a good lunch, and finding a non-windy embankment to soak in the atmosphere.
